Family Peer Support Partners provide support, advocacy, information and referrals to parents and other caregivers of children and young people who have emotional or behavioral health concerns, and do this by using their own unique experience to inspire hope and provide support to others who are facing similar challenges. Family Peer Support Partners assist with navigating the complex public child-serving systems: behavioral health, drug and alcohol, juvenile justice, education and child welfare and work collaboratively with System Partners to influence programs and policies to better meet the needs of children, youth and their families. Because of their personal experience, Family Peer Support Partners are able to model resiliency, inspire hope and help others who are facing similar challenges, with a goal of encouraging self-advocacy.
